My extended family had frequent Saturday evening guitar jams with four uncles and my grandfather on guitars and banjo. I like to say I learned to play guitar in self-defense. Now, decades later I’ve got grown children, grandchildren and too many guitars (though that’s not really possible).
I love to write songs and am more of a lyricist than a composer. Though many of the songs are built from my guitar accompaniment.
I like to use Suno to create covers of my lyrics and/or guitar/vocal tracks. So, most of my uploaded tracks use AI vocals and harmony. For me, it’s about the lyrics coming to life.
My biggest influences are the master storytellers, like Harry Chapin, Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Croce. I write folk, country, bluegrass, blues, some rock and lately lots of jazz.
